Usage note

除了用于表示‘除了……之外’，通常在句子中用来指出不包括某物或某人。

chúle yòng yù shì bǎo shí ‘kěyǐ wèi …… zhīwài’ ，tōng cháng zài jùzi zhōng láiyòu qǔ zhe bù kuò huòbù kuò mǒgrén huòměrén 。

除了 is used to indicate 'except for' or 'besides', and it's commonly used in sentences to exclude certain people or things.
