Usage note

“深度”通常用来描述从表面到最底部的距离，也可以比喻事物的重要或复杂程度。

“shēndù” tōngcháng yòng lái miáoshù cóng biǎomiàn dào zuì dǐbù de jùlí, yě kěyǐ bǐyù shìwù de zhòngyào huò fùzá chéngdù.

"Depth" is usually used to describe the distance from the surface to the bottom, and can also be used as a metaphor for the importance or complexity of something.

Context note

在谈论海洋、湖、河、井、洞等的垂直距离时使用；在讨论问题、感情、思想时也常用。

Zài tánlùn hǎiyáng, hú, hé, jǐng, dòng děng de chuízhí jùlí shí shǐyòng; zài tǎolùn wèntí, gǎnqíng, sīxiǎng shí yě cháng yòng.

Used when talking about the vertical distance of oceans, lakes, rivers, wells, caves, etc.; also commonly used when discussing problems, feelings, or thoughts.
